INCI: Salicylic Acid
Description: A type of beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that is potent for acne and post-acne treatment. Is also commonly used in dandruff shampoo. Can cause dryness and irritation with frequent use.
Properties: Soluble in ethanol and organic solvents, not soluble in water or oils. Solubilise the powder first before adding into emulsion base to prevent crytsallization from occurring. Effective pH <4. Off white crystaline powder. Characteristic odour.
Use: Exfoliation, anti-acne, anti-bacterial, sebum-control, improves cellturnover.
Application: Solution, serum, cream, lotion, cleanser. Skin care, hair care.
